Caza Sikes Gallery
“Face the Sun” Exhibit Opening
The Cincinnati Horticultural Society
Caza Sikes Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of “Face the Sun” on Friday, April 6 from 5-9 pm at 3078 Madison Road. New works by Cincinnati artists Susan Mahan and Mark Wiesner will be featured, with each artist exploring the theme of flowers inspired by springtime. The opening event is co-sponsored by English Rose Designs Ltd, and their original floral arrangements will add beauty to the gallery space.
A portion of sales will benefit The Cincinnati Horticulture Society. Cynthia Muhlhauser, Chair of the Board of the CHS said, “ We are pleased and honored to be the beneficiary of the opening of the “Face the Sun” exhibit especially one that is inspired by the beauty of flowers.” Proceeds will benefit programs of the CHS including the Gardeners Recognition Program which is held each fall. The exhibit will continue thru April 29th. On Thursday, April 19th, there will be an artist reception from 6 pm – 9 pm. Both artists will be in attendance. For more information go to the Caza Sikes website.
Kevin O’Dell, Kendrick & O’Dell Landscaping and CHS board member will be a special guest to talk about horticulture.
Susan Mahan describes her process as painting with paper,” and her body of work will include landscapes and still lifes. Mahan creates joyful mixed media canvases using acrylic paint and ink along with the mosaic application of torn photos that she has photographed herself. With the addition of other applied bits of paper and fiber, she creates depth on her two-dimensional surfaces.
Mark Wiesner creates unique and stunning wall relief sculptures using corrugated cardboard and wood. His mixed media works depict flowers and themes from nature. Wiesner bridges a synergy between drawing and sculpture, nature and abstraction. He brings a meticulous, technical rigor to delicate and mundane materials.
